Osteopathy further employs the following principles: structure and function are interdependent; the rule of the artery is supreme, and the unity of the human being

Osteopathy addresses free movement between the joints, nervous systems and circulatory systems; and the individual as a whole -- mind, body and spirit. Osteopathy respects each patient's own rhythms and pace. By treating individual problems through manual manipulation; osteopathy promotes self-healing after the fact. Fundamentally, osteopathy is a treatment that "sets" up the body to heal itself.

Osteopathy, similar to chiropractice, is a form of physiotherapy that applies a precise amount of force or pressure to promote movement of the bodily fluids; thus diminishing or eliminating dysfunction in tissue motion. Osteopathy further releases compressed bones and joints.

Osteopathy is a common treatment for infant colic, birth trauma, neck and back problems, sciatica, headaches, musculoskeletal pain, neurological pain, and countless other forms of somatic, systemic, and respiratory problems as well.
