Ayurveda Schools
AYURVEDA SCHOOLS instruct students on ayurveda sciences that are comprised of many health intructional sciences focusing primarily on Ayurvedic practices. Ayurveda school curriculums include Hinduism, Sanskrit, Ayurvedic perspectives of the Human anatomy, medicinal herbs and herbal therapy, Chikitsa-treatment, aroma therapy, color therapy, gem therapy, Mantra, sound therapy and even Yoga.
Ayurveda school instruction is founded on the principle of treating disorders, preventing disease, and bringing the body back into balance. Ayurveda school sciences actively promote toxin elimination from the body that increase immunity and bring about overall well-being.
In general, Ayurveda schools teach sciences that balance the "dosha," (Dosha - body type based on five elements) improve digestive functions, enhance immune systems, develop spiritual growth; and therapeutically balance diets, help lose excess pounds, teach exercises and meditation, and even massage therapy.
Currently, there are no licensing requirements for Ayurveda practitioners, however in 1998, a group of practitioners representing schools of Ayurveda began discussions on the creation of state and national professional associations that will focus on licensing and certification requirements of Ayurveda practices. Although Ayurveda school medical degrees are not recognized or regulated in the US or Canada -- in India, Ayurveda practitioners receive state-recognized, institutionalized training that parallel traditional physician counterparts. Ayurveda school certification courses take approximately one to two years for completion on a part-time basis.
Ayurveda School tuitions range between one thousand and two thousand dollars per semester for independent schools that instruct Ayurveda in the United States.
